Perhaps best
known for the soaring Gateway Arch – the tallest man-made monument in
the U.S. – St. Louis also boasts a vibrant downtown area and a wide
variety of fun activities for the visitors and residents alike. A
recently completed redevelopment project near the America’s Center
convention complex enhances the experience for event attendees and makes
Washington Avenue the center of a popular and trendy downtown district
filled with restaurants, live music, nightlife, and, of course, an
abundance of hotels.
America's Center
The convention
center complex is made up of two components, the America’s Center, which
offers 340,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space, and the adjoining Edward Jones
Dome, which boasts a capacity of almost 67,000 and adds another 162,000
sq. ft. of column-free exhibit space – yielding a total of more than
500,000 sq. ft. of contiguous exhibit space. The America’s Center
includes a fixed-seat theater with permanent stage, a Grand Ballroom to
accommodate 2,200, and 69 flexible meeting rooms. Major trade shows and
conventions include the St. Louis Auto Show, the Super Sale and Builders
Home and Garden Show. The Edward Jones Dome is home to the NFL’s St.
Louis Rams and many major sporting events, including the NCAA Men’s
Basketball Final Four in 2005.
